Holiday Retirement UK Limited was created from the international expansion of Holiday Retirement Corporation (HRC) into the UK. HRC, based in Salem, Oregon, USA, are North America’s leading provider of ‘Gracious Retirement Living’, with over 300 facilities in 42 US States and Canada and employs over 12,000 people.

In the early 1990’s, to consolidate their success in North America, HRC developed their first facility in the UK and opened The Hawthorns, Clevedon, to great acclaim. In doing so they immediately demonstrated that their unique concept of gracious retirement living was equally popular on this side of the Atlantic. The second facility, at Eastbourne, followed in 1998.

In July 2002, The Peverel Group (a wholly owned subsidiary of HRC and a leading provider of property related services in the UK) took over The Hawthorns with the formation of Holiday Retirement.
